more cartoon kiwis!

As I said I would post different kiwis each time, I am proud to present my kiwi hunting at night.

If you wonder why a kiwi fruit is called a kiwi, it is because a kiwi has a brown furr like texture and the fruit has a brown fuzz coated "skin".

  2. Hi Kiwiboy,
Thank you for such a great post. I have always wondered why the kiwi fruit is called a kiwi! My parents are from Australia and they grew up calling the kiwi fruit a "chinese gooseberry." They say that it was New Zealand kiwi fruit growers who renamed the fruit the "kiwi" to make it sound better. (I wonder what the kiwi birds thought about that!) It makes more sense to me now that I know that there are lots of kiwi birds in New Zealand and that the farmer's must have thought the fruit's skin was like the bird's fur. So great to know!

    I'm enjoying the blog!
